ST. PAUL - The oldest person believed charged with murder in Minnesota has died - nine days before he was to be sentenced for killing his son.
Pang Vang, 84, of Maplewood, was transferred to a hospital from his Ramsey County jail cell and died Monday, according to his attorney, Nicole Kubista.
The last time he appeared in Ramsey County District Court, on Aug. 7, he entered on a walker and sat in a chair during the hearing. He pleaded guilty that day, admitting that he fatally shot his son Chue Vang after the younger man demanded he move out of their home.
Chue Vang was upset that Pang Vang wanted to divorce his mother.
Chue Vang, 36, was shot in the chest. He died at his home.

Pang Vang pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder.
Pang Vang is the oldest person charged with murder in Minnesota since the state system began tracking records in the 1970s, though some counties did not join the system until the 1980s, according to a spokesman with the state judicial branch.
