Community teams are invited to participate in the Brain Buster Trivia event coming up on Jan. 19.

The event funds mission-related activities for the Brainerd lakes area branch of the American Association of University Women. The AAUW mission, shared by 170,000 members nationwide and 42 members locally, promotes equity and education for women and girls.

Dan Hegsted, Lakeland PBS station manager and owner of Easy Street Productions, with Deb Griffith, AAUW past president, will emcee the 2019 trivia event.

One activity the Brainerd lakes area branch engages in is raising funds for student scholarships. Central Lakes College students receive two $1,000 awards. Application for these awards is made through the college.

Another use of funds raised is to send a sophomore or junior female college student to the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders May 29-June 1 at the University of Maryland.
