Names released in fatal head-on crash in central Minnesota

SPICER, Minn. — The names of the individuals involved with a two-vehicle fatal crash Thursday, Dec. 6, near Spicer have been released.

The driver who died at the scene was identified as Joshua Adam Torgeson, 42, of Shakopee.

The driver of the other vehicle was Traci Jo Jacobs, 40, of New London, who suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The accident was reported at 3:53 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Kandiyohi County Roads 9 and 127 in Green Lake Township north of Willmar.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Torgeson was driving a 2018 Chevrolet utility truck east on County Road 127 when it struck a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Jacobs, that was going north on County Road 9.

Torgeson was found outside his vehicle and pronounced dead, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Jacobs was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
