Motorcycle rear-ends vehicle, injuring passenger

A passenger on a motorcycle was injured in a collision with another vehicle Saturday, May 11, in Brainerd.

The Brainerd Police Department responded to the crash at 12:07 p.m. at Southeast 16th and Pine streets in Brainerd. The police department reported a vehicle driven by Melinda Raskin, 32, Brainerd, was traveling east on Pine Street and stopped at the stop sign at Southeast 16th Street. A motorcycle, operated by Shanoi Richardson, 26, Brainerd, also was traveling east on Pine Street with a passenger, Iemony Niccllos, 19, Brainerd.

According to police, Richardson failed to slow enough or stop when approaching the stop sign, causing the motorcycle to crash into the back of the vehicle. Police reported Richardson and Niccllos were both then thrown forward off the motorcycle. Niccllos reported neck and back pain and was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

The drivers were not injured.
