LITTLE FALLS -- A 22-year-old woman was trapped underneath a vehicle Monday, Aug. 19, after it crashed and rolled into a swamp 6 miles southeast of Little Falls.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 7:03 p.m. on Iris Road, west of 190th Avenue, in Little Falls Township.

According to the sheriff’s office, 22-year-old Bruce Gerads of Royalton was traveling south on Iris Road when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a mailbox. The vehicle rolled into a swamp, trapping the passenger, 22-year-old Kailey Sherman of Royalton, underneath. Emergency personnel assisted in getting Sherman out from underneath the vehicle. She was transported by Life Link III to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries. Sherman was in critical condition Tuesday, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The Little Falls Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Little Falls Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
