SEBEKA -- A 76-year-old man was injured when he apparently fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed his vehicle on Wadena County Highway 23, northeast of Sebeka.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was called to a one-vehicle crash at 1:55 p.m. Aug. 21, on County Highway 23, northeast of Sebeka. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2015 Chevy pickup in the west ditch of County Highway 23. The driver, George Plaman, Gaylord, stated he was traveling north and apparently fell asleep, the sheriff’s office reported. Plaman’s vehicle crossed the southbound lane and entered the west ditch. The vehicle jumped an approach and landed on the opposite side of the approach.
Plaman was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Plaman also had a dog with him that was not injured.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Sebeka Fire and Rescue, Tri-County Ambulance and K&K Towing.
