NISSWA — Several people were injured in a multiple rear-end vehicle crash at 4:20 p.m. Friday, July 3, on Highway 371 in Nisswa.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a 2019 Jeep Renegade was traveling north on the highway when it rear-ended a 2008 Chevy Tahoe, causing it to rear-end a Subaru. The Jeep spun to the right and hit a trailer.

The driver of the Jeep, Nicole M. Schafer, 36, Little Falls, and her passengers, Skyler R. Johnson, 6, Logan L. Schafer, 11, Autumn E. Schmidt, 10; and the driver of the Tahoe, Thomas R. Engfer, 79, Breezy Point, all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transferred to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.

Engfer’s passenger, Dale E. Haver, 81, city unknown, and the driver of the 2017 Subaru, John H. Mertz, 61, Evenston, were not injured.

A fourth vehicle driven by Emily B. Johnson, 27, city unknown, was not injured.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and the Nisswa, Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point police departments assisted the state patrol at the scene.
