BAXTER — Law enforcement officials from several agencies assisted the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, April 27, with a search warrant at a residence in Baxter.

Authorities believed a 21-year-old suspect, who is wanted for an assault with a dangerous weapon in Cass County, was at the Baxter townhouse.

Authorities set up a perimeter around the townhouse on the 15000 block of Grand Oaks Drive in Baxter. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team along with the Baxter and Nisswa police departments, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team and Brainerd Fire Department assisted Cass County at the scene.

Emergency vehicles were lined up along Grand Oaks Drive as the Tactical Team, with its armored vehicle, sat outside the townhouse. Some of the residents in the surrounding townhomes stood outside to see what was going on.

Authorities were on scene about 2:30 p.m. and cleared the scene about 7:45 p.m., when authorities learned the suspect was not at the residence. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported there is no reason to believe that the public is in danger.

The case continues to be under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
