A 49-year-old man was killed Monday, Sept. 13, after the motorcycle he was operating struck an SUV from behind on Highway 18 near Two Mile Road just east of Brainerd.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the motorcyclist as Joshua Leon Ferris of McGrath. Ferris was not wearing a helmet.
A Honda CR-V, driven by 33-year-old Amelia Y. Erickson, Crosby, was reported to be traveling west and stopped in traffic at the Highway 18 and Two Mile Road intersection. The motorcycle — a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy — driven by Ferris was also traveling west behind the Honda. Ferris braked, laid the motorcycle down and struck the rear of the Honda, the state patrol reported.
The fatal crash was reported at 7:30 a.m.
