Aitkin County Habitat for Humanity’s Toolin’ Tour Motorcycle Ride is planned at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 14, after being rescheduled from a May date because of snowfall.
Proceeds will build a new home in Aitkin in 2020.
The ride leaves downtown Aitkin at The Butler Building, 301 Minnesota Ave. N., and heads to Glen, a new stop, at the Pine Inn. Then the group will proceed to McGregor, Mark’s Bar; Jacobson, Palisade, Rustic Trail, before returning to the Aitkin Legion for food, silent auction and prizes. A grilled picnic menu is new this year, prepared by Habitat’s own executive chef, Cara Shaver.
The goal is to raise $6,000 from the motorcycle ride to make a dent in the $40,000 needed to build in 2020. The next new house will be at 218 Minnesota Ave. S., along Highway 169 in Aitkin, just south of where the last new home was finished at 210 Minnesota Ave. S. Site prep works continues on the south lot this year.
A great variety of items are slated for the silent auction this year, including golf, Twins tickets and items, gun range certificates, concert tickets, jewelry, artwork, farmhouse rustic hanger, Mall of America package, a Lake Superior photo, Fitzger’s brewery items, Vikings planter, My Pillows, biker items, rendezvous items and a homemade quilt.
