AITKIN-The man killed early Friday morning, Dec. 21, in a single-vehicle crash on Aitkin County Highway 12, was identified as Levi Shannon Russell Westvig, 22, of Aitkin.
The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fatality reported at 5:12 a.m. from a passerby who saw a vehicle in the ditch about a half-mile south of County Highway 28 in Nordland Township.
Deputies responded and reported a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup was southbound when it went off the road to the right, hit a road approach, rolled and then collided with a large pine tree.
Westvig was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
