American Association of University Women will meet via Zoom 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20.
The program will be “Addressing the Needs of the Homeless Population in Brainerd Lakes.”
In 2019, the New Pathways program left Brainerd due to financial hardship. Historically, New Pathways, with the help of local churches and Lutheran Social Service, provided parents and children a place to stay and nutritious meals while they looked for housing and in some cases jobs.
Following the New Pathways closure, local area churches and service organizations formed the Brainerd Area Coalition on Homelessness. Joyce Curran of the Brainerd Salvation Army will speak about how the Salvation Army is striving to help those who find themselves homeless in our community and address plans and preparations for the future.
