WADENA-An adult and two children were injured Monday when the apartment they were in started on fire in Wadena.

The Wadena police and fire department were called at 9:37 a.m. to an apartment fire on the 300 block of Howard Avenue Southwest in Wadena. All the occupants in the apartment made it out with minor injuries. One adult and two small children were transported to Tri-County Health Care in Wadena to be treated for their injuries, Wadena police stated. All other apartments adjoining were evacuated and no other injuries were reported.

The fire started in the basement of that apartment and the cause is still under investigation.

The Wadena County Sheriff's Office, Wadena County Emergency Management, the Verndale Fire Department and the American Red Cross assisted the Wadena police and fire departments at the scene.
