Several area wastewater treatment facilities are among 56 in central Minnesota recognized by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for outstanding permit compliance.

To receive this recognition, facilities were required to demonstrate consistent compliance with monitoring, operations and maintenance requirements, submit all reports to the MPCA correctly and on time and employ staff certified by the MPCA in wastewater operations.

The following local facilities have received the award:

  • Brainerd International Raceway and Resorts.

  • Breezy Point Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Serpent Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant, Crosby.

  • Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge, Deerwood.

  • Emily Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Hackensack Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Lake Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Camp Ripley, Little Falls.

  • Motley Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Nisswa Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Pequot Lakes Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Pine River Area Sanitary District.

  • Wadena Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Walker Wastewater Treatment Plant.

“The MPCA appreciates the considerable efforts by permittees and operators to protect and preserve water quality,” stated Joe Braun, an environmental specialist with the Industrial Wastewater/Stormwater Compliance and Enforcement Unit at MPCA, in a news release. “It is this kind of difficult work that has enabled Minnesota to significantly reduce pollution coming from point sources like sewage treatment facilities.”
