The Brainerd lakes area got a start on its Christmas shopping with an abundance of arts and craft sales, open houses and bazaars Saturday, Nov. 10.
From the Franklin Arts Center Holiday Open House to Brainerd High School Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival to The Crossing Arts Alliance's Kringle Market in downtown Brainerd, sales were spread throughout town and beyond, to Nisswa and Crosby, with people hopping from site to site. Judging by traffic and the time it took to find a parking spot, business was booming.
With over a dozen organizations and businesses taking part, there was no shortage of shopping opportunities.
Santa made an appearance at the Franklin Arts Center. Some places, such as the Crossing Arts' Kringle Market, showcased live music. Many places, like Trinity Lutheran Church and Park United Methodist Church, had lunch for sale and treats to buy.
Near the end, treat selections dwindled, evidence of a successful sale. "You should have been here earlier when all the tables were filled," was heard at The Center while looking at the single table of goodies left.
