HILLMAN — Two passengers were seriously injured Saturday, Aug. 29, when an all-terrain vehicle they were on crashed, ejecting them from the machine at a residence 10 miles south of Hillman.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was called at 9:11 p.m. to the ATV crash at a residence on 83rd Street in Lakin Township.
According to the sheriff’s office, Mark Burke, 38, of South St. Paul, was driving an ATV, when he lost control of the machine and it rolled, ejecting two of his passengers — 56-year-old Rick Doffing and 33-year-old Crystal Doffing, both of Milaca. Rick Doffing was airlifted by North Memorial Health Air Care to North Memorial Health Hospital with serious injuries. Crystal Doffing was transported by North Memorial Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office reported.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Pierz Police Department and Morrill-Lakin-Mount Morris-Buckman First Response Team.
