The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office identified Isabella Brandt as the 16-year-old from Apple Valley who died in an all-terrain vehicle crash Thanksgiving Day.

Brandt was the passenger on an ATV driven by 18-year-old Tashaud Nelson, also of Apple Valley, in a large field just west of the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Thursday afternoon. The 2009 Yamaha Grizzly ATV was traveling northeast when it approached a valley/drainage in the field, went airborne, landed at the bottom of the valley and rolled multiple times.

Nelson was airlifted to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale. Brandt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither Nelson nor Brandt were wearing helmets or protective riding gear, the sheriff’s office reported.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting the sheriff’s office in investigating the crash.
