GARRISON-A 74-year-old Breezy Point man was injured Sunday when he tried to cross Highway 169 with the side-by-side all terrain vehicle he was driving in Garrison Township.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported William D. Huether, 74, Breezy Point, was driving a CAN AM Defender west on Pike Avenue as he approached Highway 169. A Cadillac Sedan driven by George A. Lamotte, 75, Clear Lake, was traveling north on Highway 169. Huether was struck by the Cadillac's driver's door when tried to cross the highway.
Huether, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to CentraCare Health in St. Cloud with non-life-threatening injuries. Lamotte and his passenger, Diane E. Lamotte, 71, Clear Lake, were not injured.
The crash was reported at 9:51 a.m.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office, Life Link III and Garrison Fire Department and emergency medical services staff assisted at the scene.
