Two women were found dead inside a house destroyed by fire just after midnight Thursday.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reported the sheriff's office responded to a fire at 12:34 a.m. Friday at a residence in Kego Township, in rural Longville. When deputies and responders arrived on scene the home was fully engulfed. Efforts to extinguish the fire began immediately.
Two women, one age 86 of Longville and one age 48 of Remer, were located dead inside the residence. Both victims were taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members.
The investigation continues with the assistance of the Minnesota's Fire Marshal's Office. Assisting at the scene were the Longville Fire Department, Longville First Responders, Remer Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance.
