BACKUS -- A woman, seriously injured Aug. 31 when the 2019 Suzuki all-terrain vehicle she was operating crashed in rural Backus, was identified as Sherri Weikert, 54, of Kimball.
The crash occurred in the Spider Lake Recreational Area in the Foot Hills State Forest. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 1:12 a.m.
Weikert was operating the ATV when she lost control, crashing the vehicle. She was treated on scene and transported to a Twin Cities hospital via North Memorial Air Care with serious injuries.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, Backus Fire and First Response and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.
