BACKUS-The 23rd annual Backus fly-in pancake breakfast will be 7:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, July 29, at the Backus Municipal Airport.
The pancake breakfast, a benefit for the Backus Fire Department and First Responders, will cost $6 at the door ($5 in advance) and $3 for children under 12 years old. Fly-in pilots eat free. Sausage, juice, coffee and milk are included.
Schedule permitting, the North Memorial Medevac helicopter will land at 11 a.m. A demonstration will be given with the Jaws of Life rescue apparatus on an old car, weather permitting.
Watch airplanes land and take off, talk to pilots, firefighters and first responders and see a fire truck up close. Raffle tickets will be sold, with a drawing at noon during which people need not be present to win.
Advance tickets are available from Backus Lions members at the Polish Stand at Godfrey's on Saturdays or Backus Fire Department members and first responders.
