Barrows fire victim's condition improves

The man who suffered burns in last week's fire in Barrows was upgraded from serious condition on Friday, Nov. 30, to satisfactory condition on Monday at a Minneapolis hospital.

The man who suffered burns in last week's fire in Barrows was upgraded from serious condition on Friday, Nov. 30, to satisfactory condition on Monday at a Minneapolis hospital.

Trevor Grundmeier, 42, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd by a private party after the fire Nov. 28 and was later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis to be treated for his burns.

Authorities were called to the fully involved garage fire at 4:26 p.m. Nov. 28 on the 10000 block of Depot Street, just off Business Highway 371 south of Brainerd. Grundmeier rents the Barrows home on Depot Street.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting the Brainerd Fire Department on determining the cause of a fire that destroyed a garage.
