BAXTER - Growlers will be allowed for sale on Sundays in Baxter.
The Baxter City Council approved a change allowing state-licensed brewers to sell off-sale growlers, 64 ounces of malt liquor.
Earlier this month, Gov. Mark Dayton signed the omnibus liquor bill amending the state law to allow brewers to sell growlers on Sundays. Baxter is allowing the sales as it does on all other days from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. No other off-sales are allowed on Sunday. Previously, the city noted no alcohol could be served prior to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Sought to clarify language in the city's personnel policy. At issue, the city reported, was a personnel policy regarding employees who take a leave of absence. Council member Steve Barrows said the employee on approved leave should not perform work-related activities unless approved in advance by the city administrator or the city council. The personnel policy will be amended to clarify the expectations with a leave.

"The city acknowledges the purpose of providing employee leave benefits is for the employee to balance their work and personal responsibilities by allowing them to take reasonable leave for certain family, medical and personal affairs," the city reported in a memo.
Approved liquor licenses and 3.2 malt beverage licenses July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016, for Applebee's, Baxter Liquor Mart, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cash Wise Liquors, College Square, Three Bear Lodge Holiday Inn Express, Super One Foods, Rapid River Lodge Comfort Suites, Wal-Mart, Boulder Tap House, Grizzly's Wood Fired Grill, Poncho and Lefty's, Super America, Olive Garden.
Met in closed session to discuss ongoing negotiations with a land acquisition at College and Cypress drives.
Will meet in a special session at 7 p.m. Thursday to present the 2015 Dellwood/Novotny street improvement projects.
