The Baxter City Council on Monday held a public hearing on assessments to landowners near a $2.5 million road repaving project.

The city plans for the mill and overlay work to be done from mid-August to October, and cost a projected $2,542,385. The project includes all of Elder Drive, Glory Road from Highway 371 to Isle Drive, Foley Road from Forthun Road to Elder Drive, Fairview Road from Conservation Drive to Baxter Drive, as both Edgewood Drive and Dellwood Drive from Excelsior Road to about 700 feet north of Woida Road.

Adjacent landowners will pay for most of the cost of improvements except for the work on one side of the Highway 210 and Highway 371 frontage roads where there is no abutting property, about 36 percent of the project costs.

No commenters appeared at the public hearing. The City Council will vote on whether to accept the assessment roll at its Tuesday meeting.
