Baxter police investigate altercation at beach

The altercation escalated into numerous people and involved weapons and the fight was regarding a social media post, police reported.

BAXTER — The Baxter Police Department is investigating an assault incident that occurred Thursday, May 13, at the Whipple Beach Recreation Area in Baxter.

Police were called at 9:02 p.m. to an altercation between two groups of adults and juveniles at the Baxter beach. The altercation escalated into numerous people and it involved weapons such as knives, pipes and sticks. The fight was regarding a social media post, police reported, but further information concerning the content matter of the post was unclear.

A juvenile was transported by ambulance for a possible head injury, but released later that night.

Police are investigating the case and so far there have been no arrests.
