BAXTER-The start of a planned six-week closure of Excelsior Road and Cypress Drive in Baxter will depend on work related to storm sewer pipe delivery.
Landwehr Construction Inc. started clearing and grubbing work south of the railroad tracks and continued installing erosion control devices last week. Landwehr reported its crews plan to continue with installation of erosion control devices, clearing and grubbing of trees, jacking casing pipe under Highway 210 and under the railroad tracks, and possibly start some grading work off existing roadways starting the week of July 16.
Notice of the closure will be sent out when the start date is determined.
There is and will be ongoing construction staking by Short Elliott Hendrickson and Landwehr Construction during the 2018 and 2019 construction seasons. Property owners are asked to not disturb the wood stakes as they are necessary for construction of the road project and are expensive to replace and to leave utility markers for safety of the construction team and the public.
Private utility relocation work is still ongoing on now and will continue over the next few months on the project corridor. There private utility companies are and will continue ongoing marking of their existing underground facilities as construction progresses in 2018 and 2019.

The five residential house moves and basement demolitions at the south end of the project are now complete.
Baxter is hosting a project open house at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Baxter City Hall to discuss updated details on the schedule, staging, and traffic control. The project involves the construction and expansion of Cypress Drive to four lanes between Excelsior Road to College Road and intersection improvements on Highway 210 at Cypress Drive and at Golf Course Drive.
The project will be constructed over a two-year period. Construction work began July 9. Private utility relocation work will continue during the next few months. With this project there is a planned six-week closure of the Cypress Drive/Excelsior Road intersection in 2018 in order to construct the planned roundabout near SuperOne Foods. A planned six-week closure of the Cypress Drive/College Road intersection is planned in 2019 to construct the other planned roundabout.
A representative of the general contractor Landwehr Construction, St. Cloud, is also expected to be present to answer questions at the open house.
