MORA - One man is dead after an officer involved shooting Wednesday night in Mora, about an hour north of Minneapolis.
Shortly before 9 p.m., a Kanabec County sheriff's deputy responded to a report from a man who said he was going to kill someone at a home in Mora, according to a press release from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
The officer went to the address and went into the home listed in the report. Then a man in a vehicle sped up to the home and crashed into a tree in the front yard. The officer came out of the front door of the home as the man was getting out of the car.
After the deputy drew her weapon and ordered the man to get on the ground, the man attacked the deputy, punching her in the head repeatedly. The officer then shot the man, according to the release.
An acquaintance of the homeowner helped secure the man and he was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived.

There were no weapons found at the scene.
The officer was treated at the scene for injuries to her forehead and arm and she is on standard administrative leave.
The BCA is investigating the shooting.
