A fundraiser to benefit The Pink Ribbon Cupboard, a local organization that provides non-medical funding to breast cancer patients while going through treatment, is planned from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in north Brainerd.

Attendees can ring the bells to support those who have been diagnosed with cancer. People may ring the bell in memory of a loved one who suffered through cancer and has since won the battle.

Kathy Buxton, a 20-year-old breast cancer survivor, started The Pine Ribbon Cupboard five years ago. She wanted to start a nonprofit organization that would support those with breast cancer. Buxton said all the proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the organization to help patients in the lakes area.

Since the organization was formed, there have been 500 families who have been helped, or about 100 a year in Crow Wing, Cass and Aitkin counties.

There are three people who sit on The Pine Ribbon Cupboard board and they are Buxton, Sue Beck and Marion Foehrenbacher.
