The Birding Big Day and potluck will be 8 a.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd.

Join with amateurs and experts alike to identify and count birds at the Northland Arboretum. It is a mildly competitive event in which participants are divided into teams to see how many species of birds they can find during the morning on the trails within the Arboretum.

Groups will gather in the parking lot at the Arboretum and divide into teams at 8 a.m. Each team will have an experienced birder as its leader and then head out on the trails until noon.

Bring binoculars and a potluck item to share, as there is a potluck tally party with grilled items and beverages provided by Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society.
