Dennis and Jody Drummond's dream is taking shape, converting a former farm field into a facility they hope will be a gathering spot for residents and visitors.
Last week on a sunny hot day, Matt Davis, CEO of Fortress Built, the general contractor, said they were preparing to pour concrete.
The plans call for a center ballroom with wedding patio with a barrel room and wine making on one side and a bistro and bistro bar on the other. There will be space devoted to wine tasting, a commercial kitchen and cask storage.
The grand opening is expected to be April 1, 2017, but they'll be making wine first with wine production beginning this year.
Iven's On the Bay has news owners. The fine-dining restaurant, a landmark for more than 30 years along Highway 371 North on North Long Lake's west bay, was sold.

Iven's was started by Iven and Marlene Hudalla and then they sold to Keith Carlson and Sara McCabe in 2004. The restaurant sold again in late July and this time it will no longer be known as the Iven's Brainerd lakes area residents have come to know.
Brian Burggraff of Brainerd and Dan B. Lee of Maple Grove closed on the property July 29 and will open a new restaurant called Northern Cowboy Flame N' Brew.
Details on the Northern Cowboy will be featured in the Brainerd Dispatch Progress Edition scheduled to be published Labor Day, Sept. 5.
