DEER RIVER - The body of an adult male was discovered by authorities in Itasca County on Sunday during an investigation of a missing person and stolen vehicle.
The body was discovered in rural Deer River - northwest of Grand Rapids - during the course of the investigation, the Itasca County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Tuesday morning.
The Grand Rapids and Deer River police departments were also involved in the investigation Sunday.
The body will be taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death. The identification of the person is being withheld until notification of family members, the sheriff's office said.
Itasca County Search and Rescue and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have been assisting the sheriff's office with the body.
