GROVE CITY - The body of a 39-year-old woman, who had been reported missing Monday afternoon, was found a few hours later in a drainage ditch near Grove City in west central Minnesota.
Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze said his department is actively investigating the events leading up to the death as well as the cause and manner of death.
According to a news release from Cruze, law enforcement was called about 4:45 p.m. Monday with a report of a missing person.
Deputies responded to a residence north of Grove City and the Grove City Fire and Rescue and Atwater Rescue were called to assist in the search.
The woman’s body was found about 8:10 p.m. in a drainage ditch about a third of a mile west of the residence.

The body has been sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and positive identification.
