WADENA - Numerous bone fragments have been found at a farm two miles north of Wadena, according to the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office.
Large piles of black dirt were seen at the scene where authorities dug up the remains.
The sheriff’s office had executed a search warrant at 11441 Leaf River Road in Leaf River Township on Monday.

"Contrary to erroneous media reports, the human remains being sought do not involve Jacob Wetterling or Carla Anderson. Numerous bone fragments were found and have been sent in for analysis concerning the origin of the items found," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "This is an active and ongoing investigation and as such, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes prohibiting information disclosure of ongoing investigations, no further comments will be made at this time."
Carla Anderson has been missing since 1987 when the 23-year-old disappeared under suspicious circumstances from her Wadena apartment Wetterling went missing in 1989 from St. Joseph, Minn., when he was abducted while bike riding at age 11.
