The Pine Tree District of Central Minnesota Council, Boy Scouts of America, will host an informational meeting 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Salvation Army Chapel, 208 S. Fifth St., Brainerd, to discuss family Scouting and how girls will be welcomed into all programs.
"We welcome any person who is interested in learning more about the changes the national
organization has made to include girls in the programs," Loren Meinke, a member of the district leadership team, stated in a news release. "We especially encourage young ladies between 11 and 17 years old."
In October 2017 the Boy Scouts of America announced girls would be allowed in the Cub Scout
program starting in 2018 and then starting in February of 2019 girls would be allowed to join the older youth program. This meeting is intended to go into more detail about which units currently have girls involved, how girls can sign-up for Scouts and what the timeline is for the older girls to join.
