Brainerd Public Utilities (BPU) is celebrating Public Power Week Oct. 6-10.
Cookies and coffee will be served to BPU customers from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. during the week at the BPU Service Center, 8027 Highland Scenic Road.
There will be pictures, information and equipment displayed representing all of BPU departments.
Public Power Week is an annual national event coordinated by the American Public Power Association in Washington DC. The association represents not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities that power homes, businesses and street lighting in nearly 2,000 towns and cities, serving 47 million Americans.
Brainerd Public Utilities takes pride in providing safe and reliable electricity in the Brainerd area, serving 6,581 residential customers and 1,329 commercial customers, said Scott Magnuson, BPU superintendent. Brainerd Public Utilities has served its customers for 122 years.
