An arctic blast prompted wind chill advisories for the Brainerd lakes area.

The National Weather Service noted widespread dangerous windchills of 20 to 40 below could affect the region this weekend into Monday morning. In Brainerd, weekend wind chills may be 25 to 35 below. But warmer temperatures may not be too far away. After a Monday high of 1 degree and a chilly Tuesday expect air temperatures to begin to moderate, climbing to mid-20s by Friday.
