When he crossed over the wooden bridge last week, Blake Collins, 10, became the newest member of Boy Scout Troop 43, Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. The bridge is symbolic of his transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.

"Blake completed all of the requirements for his Arrow of Light, the highest award a Cub Scout can earn, and went so far as to complete all of the requirements to be a Super Achiever," said Cub Master Ann Scheinost.

Blake started Cub Scouts as a Tiger Cub and worked all the way up to the top.

Throughout his Cub Scout experience he attended summer camp at Parker Scout Camp and numerous times he was the top seller of popcorn for his pack.

Scheinost told the story of Blake's first year selling popcorn during the crossing over ceremony, "I asked him how he sold so much popcorn and he told me, 'I just put on my uniform, knock on the door and when they answer I say, Hi I'm Blake Collins and I'm a Cub Scout, would you like to buy some popcorn please' and I make sure I smile."

Blake and his father, DJ Collins, have come up through Scouts together and DJ has been one of his leaders the entire time.

"I am very happy to see him crossover to Boy Scouts," said DJ. "He has learned so much in Cub Scouts these past five years but he will learn even more and become a great leader because of Boy Scouts."

Blake was welcomed into the troop by two of the senior boys including Josiah Bacon, an Eagle Scout.
