Four Brainerd residents are officially on the Historical Water Tower Citizen Committee.
The Brainerd City Council approved Ann Fisher, Mary Koep, Ashley Storm and Joella Converse to the committee at its Tuesday, Sept. 4, council meeting.
As the council previously agreed that each council member would appoint one person to the eight-citizen committee, council member Gabe Johnson asked to appoint Carissa Meyer, pending the completion of her application. The rest of the council agreed to keep a spot open for Meyer for the next two weeks, as council member Kelly Bevans said he didn't want it open indefinitely if she never fills out an application.
City Administrator Cassandra Torstenson said she knows of one more person who is also working on an application for the committee.
Council member Dave Badeaux will serve as the committee's council liaison.

In other business Tuesday, the council:
Authorized the police department to use about $4,330 of drug forfeiture funds to buy four tactical radio headsets for officers assigned to the multi-agency tactical team. Headsets will protect officers from hearing loud noises and will work with their police radios for better communication.
The drug forfeiture fund currently has $15,583.03.
Accepted a donation of land from Patricia and Harvey Johnson. The nearly 12 acres of land adjoins Rotary Park. The city may have to pay taxes on the property for a year and pay recording fees. The estimated cost for the first year is $102.65.
Approved a temporary on-sale liquor license for The Crossing Arts Alliance for an event Oct. 4.
Agreed to an extension of premises for Roundhouse Brewery for an event Sept. 20-22. The property will be extended to The Northern Pacific Center parking lot.
Adopted an ordinance to rezone property at 15770 Dellwood Dr. from residential office to light industrial. Owner Shannon Tibbetts plans to use the site for a self-storage facility.
Acknowledged a petition from the Brainerd School District for the city to vacate the portion of Williams Street from Northwest Third Street to Northwest Fourth Street, and the portion of Northwest Third Street from Williams Street to the railroad tracks. The school district owns all the adjacent property.

A public hearing on the vacation will be 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1.
Heard of two vacancies on the charter commission and the library board. Both committees have one seat available with terms ending in 2021.
