As of Wednesday, Aug. 12, Brainerd City Hall is openly accessible to the public 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

City hall opened with controlled access July 27, with visitors ringing a doorbell and waiting for a response to gain access. The door on the east side of the building is now open during business hours for members of the public to walk in. Masks are required and will be provided for those who do not have one.

Visitors must review a health questionnaire placed on the door and will be required to log their name, date and time of their visit for contact tracing purposes.

Following guidelines from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health, the city has implemented the following safety practices:

  • A table with hand sanitizer and masks will be located inside the door.

  • Social distancing marks are on the floor to help visitors maintain 6 feet of distance between one another.

  • Staff will remain behind the counter with a glass partition when interacting with visitors. If face-to-face interaction is required, staff will wear a mask and maintain 6 feet of distance when possible.

Citizens are still encouraged to handle business via phone, email or online whenever possible.
“COVID-19 is unpredictable and disruptive, but rest assured, we, at the City, are here for you and are committed to ensuring our community has safe and unhindered access to needed services,” a news release from the city stated. “We thank you for your patience and cooperation in keeping our community safe.”
