Members of the public are invited to apply to fill any of the several vacancies on various city of Brainerd committees and commissions.
The following terms are available, with each term ending Dec. 31 of the specified year.
Cable TV advisory committee — one term expiring 2021 and one term expiring 2022. Applicants must be Brainerd residents.
Charter commission — one term expiring 2022. Applicants must either be Brainerd residents or have an ownership interest in a business or property in the city.
Housing and Redevelopment Authority — one term expiring 2022. Applicants must be Brainerd residents.
Parks board — one term expiring 2024. Applicants must either be Brainerd residents or have an ownership interest in a business or property in the city.
Rental dwelling license board of appeals — three terms expiring 2022. Of the three open positions, one person must be a rental property manager representative, one must be a rental housing advocate representative and one must be a housing advocate representative.
Transportation advisory committee — one term expiring 2022. Applicants must reside in Brainerd or the transit service area or have an ownership interest in a business or property.
Police and fire civil service commission — one term expiring 2023. Applicants must either be Brainerd residents or have an ownership interest in a business or property in the city.
Water tower committee — two openings.
There are also two terms available on the Economic Development Authority expiring Sept. 7 in 2021 and 2026.

In other business Monday, the council:
Authorized the hiring of Trystan Richardt as a temporary park tournament and street department paint crew worker, earning $14 an hour.

Approved temporary on-sale liquor license applications from the Brainerd Jaycees for events at Memorial Park July 31 and Aug. 18.
Authorized the purchase of Brainerd Dispatch wrap advertising sesquicentennial events. The wrap is $750, along with a $500 insertion in the Echoland Shopper and $75 in loose wraps.
Approved an event application for an outdoor kids’ concert put on by Lakes Area Music Festival to take place from 9-11 a.m. Aug. 7 in the public library parking lot.
Approved an agreement with Widseth to complete and submit a State Park Road Account grant to get funds for reconstruction of Lum Park Road. The personal services agreement has a cost of $2,300, which will come out of the city’s construction fund.
Approved a quote from Knife River for the city’s 2021 patch project at a cost of $48,937. The council budgeted $50,000 for the project.
Approved the final reading of an amendment to the city’s food truck ordinance, loosening restrictions for food truck operations.
Scheduled a council workshop for 6 p.m. July 12 to discuss updates to the city’s zoning code.
