The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a call at 2:43 p.m. Thursday on South Eighth Street. Firefighters investigated and learned the alarm was set off from burned popcorn.
Seventeen firefighters responded and cleared the scene at 2:48 p.m.
A cut residential natural gas line closed County Highway 16 by Moonlite Bay in Crosslake about 1 p.m. Friday until the line was repaired. The Crosslake Fire Department was on scene for an hour. The residential natural gas line was cut by a contractor. Seven firefighters responded to the scene. Crosslake Fire Chief Chip Lohmiller said no homes were evacuated as no one was at the residences in the area of the cut gas line.
