Starting Wednesday, readers of the Brainerd Dispatch will be getting a little something extra in their paper.
Forum Communications, the Dispatch's parent company, has partnered with USA Today to offer a variety of USA Today pages on weekdays. To start, the Dispatch will be featuring two USA Today national news pages to supplement existing national news we receive through Reuters and other wire services.
The goal behind the partnership with USA Today is to offer our readers more options. In a recent survey we conducted, almost 70 percent of those responding said they look to the Dispatch for national news. As always, local news will remain our No. 1 priority.
"We're excited to be offering our readers additional national and world news coverage with two USA Today pages in our weekday editions without increasing the price of our publication," Dispatch Publisher Pete Mohs said. "If the USA Today coverage is popular with our readers, we have the potential to expand by adding national sports, entertainment and business pages. The USA Today national and world news coverage is a good mix with our local, state and regional coverage."
While we're starting with just two pages in our print edition, up to eight pages of USA Today content is expected to be included in our e-edition. As we progress with the partnership we will be looking at adding more pages into the Dispatch print edition. That's where you, our readers, come in. We'd like to hear your feedback on what content you would like to see us use from USA Today.
