Brainerd fire crews respond to calls

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to several calls over weekend.

From fire calls at Best Buy to PORT Group Home for Boys to grass fires, the Brainerd Fire Department responded to a variety of calls since Friday, April 30.


  • Called at 12:50 p.m. to a fire alarm at Pine Grove Apartments, 7355 Clearwater Road, Baxter. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a maintenance matter.

  • Called at 3:50 p.m. to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Clearwater Road and Highway 371, in Baxter. Firefighters assisted the Baxter Police Department at the scene. No one was transported to the hospital for injuries, police reported.


  • Called at 3:01 p.m. to a grass fire on the 5900 block of Foley Road in Baxter. Fire crews assisted the DNR in extinguishing a burn pile.


  • Called at 12:30 a.m. to a fire alarm at PORT Group Home for Boys, 1406 Laurel St., Brainerd, which was determined to be unfounded.

  • Called at 11:57 a.m. to Best Buy, 14555 Edgewood Drive, Baxter, for a report of a gas leak. Upon investigation, small gas leaks were found. Firefighters provided standby assistance for the utility company.
