Brainerd firefighters brave subzero temps to respond to calls

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to several calls since Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Firefighters responded 3 p.m. Wednesday to a water flow alarm on the 7900 block of Greenwood Road. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a maintenance matter.

At 5:22 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to First Impression Printing, 401 Front St., for smoke in the building. Upon arrival, smoke was observed in the rear of the building, and the printing equipment room. Smoldering wood timbers were located and removed.

Firefighters also responded at 3:03 a.m. Thursday to the 4600 block of Briarwood Lane for a smoke alarm. Upon investigation, it was determined to be unfounded.

And at 9:31 a.m. Thursday firefighters were called to the 1800 block of South Eighth Street for a carbon monoxide alarm. Upon investigation, it was determined the property had elevated levels of carbon monoxide, and firefighters provided standby assistance.
