BAXTER-A woman escaped with her dog Friday, Dec. 21, after a fire started in a Baxter home.
The Brainerd Fire Department was called to a house fire at 10:43 a.m. on the 13000 block of Travine Drive, Baxter.
"We entered and found a small fire in what was identified as a bedroom," Brainerd Fire Chief Tim Holmes said. "The whole house was full of smoke. We put out the fire and now we are ventilating the home and doing overhaul."
Holmes said firefighters also saved a pet bearded dragon that was in the house.
The cause of the fire is electrical, Holmes said.

About 15 firefighters responded and the Baxter Police Department, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Neighbor Karen Riewer watched as firefighters worked on extinguishing the fire.
"I heard the fire trucks drive by and my dog was barking like crazy so I came outside to see what was going on," Riewer said. "I saw all the fire trucks and police cars out there. A firefighter broke the one window where all the smoke was coming out."
According to the Crow Wing County taxes parcel information, the taxpayers on the property are identified as Tammy J. Parks and Anita Chamberlin. The house by itself is valued at $178,000.
