Brainerd firefighters respond to calls over holiday weekend

Firefighters investigate alarms at several locations.

The Brainerd Fire Department is at the intersection of East River Road and Laurel Street in Brainerd.

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to several calls over the long holiday weekend from maintenance matters to reports of smoke in buildings.

Thursday, Dec. 31:

  • Called at 4:20 p.m. to Giant Wash, 1224 Oak St., to a report of smoke in the building. It was determined to be a maintenance matter and firefighters ventilated the building.

Friday:

  • No calls.

Saturday:

  • Called at 10:46 a.m. to Good Samaritan Society-Bethany, 804 Wright St., to a fire alarm. It was determined to be a maintenance matter.

  • Called at 12:23 p.m. to a report of smoke on the 14000 block of Grand Oaks Drive for a report of smoke coming from a vehicle. Upon investigation, it was determined there was no fire.

  • Called at 4:48 p.m. to Bethany Senior Apartments, 1953 S. Seventh St., for a fire alarm that was determined to be a maintenance matter.

Sunday:

  • No calls.

Monday:

  • Called at 8:48 a.m. to Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center, 1414 Maple St., for a fire alarm. Upon investigation, it was determined to be caused by burned food.
