Brainerd KFC closes, workers reportedly transferred to Baxter

The KFC restaurant on C Street Northeast in Brainerd closed as of Tuesday, the franchise owner having sold the business.

A sign on the door said the location was closed. On Wednesday, equipment was being moved out of the building.

A shift manager at the C Street location, who did not want his name used, said the employees all filled out applications for their jobs and would have in-person interviews that night for the Baxter location. From what he had heard, job cuts were unlikely.
"Everyone sounds pretty safe," he said.

Attempts to reach former franchise owner Greg Watland at his business, Watland Inc., were unsuccessful.
