The Brainerd High School Knowledge Bowl teams put in a strong showing March 9 at the Region Five Knowledge Bowl Tournament in Staples.
Brainerd qualified six of its seven teams for the regional tournament, with the Brainerd team dubbed "Thassafrath" taking home first place honors. The team consisted of Kyle Hensel, Sam Dirks, Matt Greatens, Maison Jobe and Adam Kleist.
There are 87 teams in Region Five and the top 21 teams were invited to compete at the regional tournament. The following teams will represent Region Five at the state tournament April 6-7 at Cragun's Resort: Thassafrath, from Brainerd; Red Hot Trivia Peppers, from Staples-Motley; Who Dis? from Nevis; BB Mountaineers, from Aitkin.
