The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has notified the Brainerd Public Library of a reduction in 2014 tax forms and instructions it will provide for distribution through the library. Due to federal budget cuts, the IRS will not deliver instructions or most forms that have been typically available. Forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ will still be delivered, but the instruction booklets will not. Individuals may order single copies of all instructions and forms by calling the IRS at 800-829-3676, by going online to www.irs.gov and clicking on "Forms & Pubs," or by going directly to: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Forms-and-Publications-by-U.S.-Mail .
The IRS has not yet given a date for delivery of forms to the library, so call ahead to confirm what is in stock at 829-5574. People can print any form from a library computer using their library card for 15 cents per page.
AARP volunteers will again be assisting senior citizens and low-income individuals with tax filing starting in February; call the Center at 829-9345 for appointments.
