ONAMIA — A 72-year-old Brainerd woman was killed Thursday, Jan. 7, when she was struck by a truck leaving a convenient store in Onamia.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the fatal collision at 6:28 p.m. at the Super Stop off Highway 169, just north of Onamia. Troopers learned a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling at a high rate of speed in the Super Stop parking lot when it struck a pedestrian as she was leaving the store. The Mille Lacs Sheriff’s Office reported the vehicle crashed into the building after it struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian killed in the collision was identified as 72-year-old Gloria May Rosekrans.

The driver of the truck, Brenda L. Beaulieu, 69, Isle, and her two 12-year-old passengers, Earl and Kaylee-Anna Monchamp, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the Mille Lacs Health System to be treated.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the state report stated.
The sheriff's office reported Onamia Police Officer Jeff Vee, who witnessed the crash, was also injured and taken to the Onamia hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No information on how Vee was injured was provided.
The sheriff’s office reported at this time no criminal charges have been filed against the driver, but the incident is under investigation with assistance from the state patrol.
